The original brick and timber building in San Francisco’s SoMa District forms a comfortable backdrop for the light, spare elements of a digitally-inspired environment. A juxtaposition of historical periods produces an entry sequence that underscores the advanced capabilities of the tenant’s business.
A brother and sister own this building, built by their grandfather at the turn of the 20th century. The original freight elevator was stripped of its old finishes and permanently fixed to form the building entrance.
Simple industrial components were used in a refined manner to frame flexible partitions that define small conference areas throughout the building. Custom furniture and work stations were fabricated from wheat board and sun flower seed board, both environmentally friendly materials.
