Embarcadero Center Flower Kiosk
San Francisco, CA
The essence of the flower kiosk is the colorful nature of the flowers themselves. We transformed the kiosk that sold tickets to the skydeck at One Embarcadero Center into a transparent support armature for flowers. The final design was selected by Boston Properties from six schemes generated during an in-house charette where everyone in the office sketched out a design.
The glass panels float above a stone base, connected to each other with stainless steel “spider” fittings. We adapted these fittings to support internal glass shelves as well as metal vases used by the vendor. When open, the kiosk disappears behind a mass of vibrant color, a focal point at the base of the 45-story tower.
