HKETO
Our office provided architectural design, interior design and structural engineering for the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) at 130 Montgomery Street. The office functions as a kind of consulate, linking the Asian community in San Francisco to partners in Hong Kong. The chief planning objective was to reorganize an institution that had previously functioned horizontally on two floors into its new six-story vertical arrangement.
The HKETO did not want an Asian-themed interior; rather they opted for a clean, warm contemporary look with a nod to the Arte Moderne exterior. We created an interior with angled elements rendered in modern materials. New improvements were installed throughout, including offices, board rooms, a multi-media presentation room, a catering kitchen, a formal entrance lobby, and a library located on the ground floor mezzanine.
